Refractive Lens Exchange (sometimes referred to as Natural Lens Replacement) involves replacing the natural lens with a small, clear synthetic implant called an intraocular lens (IOL). The focusing power of the IOL can be chosen to reduce dependence on glasses after surgery.

If you are over 40 and have a glasses prescription higher than the normal range for laser eye surgery, you are likely to be suitable for refractive lens exchange.

We provide a range of lenses for patients undergoing refractive lens exchange surgery that aim to reduce or eliminate the need for glasses or contact lenses, as well as correcting any pre-existing astigmatism:

  • Monofocal - for patients who have issues with one vision and are most commonly used to correct distance sight.
  • Multifocal - aims to correct the vision on all sight distances.
  • Toric - deals specifically with the correction of astigmatism (distorted or blurred vision at all distances). The toric option is also available in both monofocal and multifocal ranges.

At Eye Care Scotland our lens surgery package prices include the cost of your surgery and all appropriate aftercare appointments.

All diagnostic assessments and initial consultations with our Optometrists and Consultants for lens surgery are free of charge and the cost of your surgery will depend on the type of lens you choose.

Our costs include all surgery fees and aftercare appointments with our Consultant Ophthalmologists and Optometrists.

We provide fixed term monthly payment plans over 10 - 60 months with no deposit required. If you decide to pay over 10 months, you will pay interest free. If you are paying for a longer period, you pay 14.9% APR.
