- Laparoscopy (also known as keyhole surgery to diagnose and treat conditions in your abdomen and pelvis)
- Cataract surgery
- Minor general surgery, such as a hernia repair
- Minor urological surgery
- Minor orthopaedic surgery, such as hand and wrist procedures
Many outpatient procedures are a combination of diagnostic services and surgical treatment. As part of a day-case procedure, you will be discharged on the same day, even if you have had general anaesthesia. Your team will ensure it is safe for you to leave the hospital and that you have a set of detailed instructions about how to recover comfortably at home.
Private inpatient procedures
An inpatient procedure is a surgical procedure that requires one or more nights in hospital. Some of the inpatient procedures we offer include:
-
The time you spend having treatment depends on the type of treatment you undergo. Most forms of treatment will include follow-up appointments, additional care such as physiotherapy, and a recovery process to follow at home to recover as safely and quickly as possible.
Some common timeframes include:
- A colonoscopy (day-case procedure) takes up to 45 minutes
- An MRI or CT scan can take up to 90 minutes
- An ultrasound scan can take up to 45 minutes
- The average time for a health assessment is around 45 minutes
Your recovery period following a procedure will be based on the type of surgery you have had and your individual circumstances, including why you need surgery in the first place. For example, recovery from a day-case procedure like a colonoscopy takes up to one day, while recovering from hip replacement surgery can take over six months.
Staying in hospital as an inpatient
If you need to stay in hospital overnight, it means you are being treated as an inpatient. You will be contacted with all the details of what you will need to do before surgery, and the length of your recovery period at home. The length of your stay and procedure depends entirely on the type of inpatient procedure you are having. For example, the average knee replacement takes up to three hours, and usually requires an overnight stay.
Your healthcare team will provide you with a comprehensive timeline of your treatment and recovery period, so you will feel ready and informed ahead of surgery.

The cost of your treatment depends entirely on the type of treatment you have and the hospital in which you have it. It is also highly dependent on your individual circumstances, and in some cases, any additional services you might need along the way.
We have three main options for you to pay for treatment:- Paying for yourself
- Spreading the cost of treatment with our flexible finance options offered via Chrysalis Finance
- Using private medical insurance
Paying for yourself
When you use self-pay, you'll get a fixed-price package that will include up to six months of aftercare, such as a block of physiotherapy sessions, so you won't get any nasty surprises down the line – and you can just focus on getting better.
For your convenience, we offer various ways to pay your bill:
- Online: available 24/7 on our payments page, which is a simple and easy digital form of payment
- By telephone: you can pay for your treatment at any time through our automated line on 0330 008 0457
- By post: You can send a cheque made payable to Circle Health Group. Please ensure that your hospital account number and invoice number (these can be found at the top of your invoice) are clearly written on the back of your cheque. Please detach the remittance slip at the bottom of the invoice and send with your cheque
Flexible finance options
We work with Chrysalis Finance to offer flexible payment plans, meaning you can get a loan that covers the costs of your treatment at any of our hospitals. You can spread the cost of treatment over a period to suit you, making for monthly instalments that are easier to manage.
Find out more about getting a loan.
Private healthcare insurance
Private health insurance (also known as private medical insurance or PMI) is cover designed to make sure that if you need medical treatment, you can go private for your care and not worry about the costs.
So, if you need private treatment, your PMI covers the costs. You can get fast access to expert care, safe in the knowledge that the price will be covered by your policy.
Personal private healthcare insurance is paid for directly. You might pay monthly instalments or an annual fee. Lots of people have cover through their work, in which case your employer will deal with the insurance provider. You might pay a fee each month for the policy, but this will likely come out of your salary before you are paid.

* Our fixed-price packages do not include the cost of your initial consultation or any diagnostic tests done at the time. Prices will be confirmed after your first appointment with a consultant specialist.
All prices given are guide prices. Our treatment packages are bespoke, and therefore our private healthcare prices differ from case to case. We will confirm prices in writing before going ahead with any treatment.
These prices are only applicable to patients who are paying for their own treatment. If you want to pay for treatment using your health insurance, the costs will generally be covered by your provider.
