About us

Albyn Hospital is part of Circle Health Group, a leading provider of healthcare services throughout the UK. Located in the west end of Aberdeen, Albyn Hospital is the only independent hospital serving Aberdeen/shire and the North of Scotland.

Our facilities combined with the latest onsite imaging and diagnostic technology enables the team of over 100 Consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures ranging from routine investigations to complex surgery. Some of the main private treatments offered at Albyn Hospital include orthopaedic surgery, eye surgery, one stop breast clinic service, gynaecology, general surgery and gastroenterology.

The Consultants are supported by an experienced and dedicated multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals and administration staff to provide patients with the highest level of care in a friendly and comfortable environment. Additional support services available on-site include a laboratory, pharmacy and audiology service.

The hospital has recently completed work on its fourth operating theatre, 6 bed recovery bay and a new ward comprising of 7 new rooms for day case patients and 3 en-suite bedrooms. This is part of an £8 million investment programme.

The Sunflower Suite (outpatient oncology suite) has been accredited with the Macmillan Quality Environmental Mark (MQEM) and the theatre team were awarded AfPP’s Certificate of Achievement for Safe Perioperative Practice. Patients can access our services through private medical insurance or by self-paying.

Albyn Hospital accepts referrals from GPs, Optometrists and Physiotherapists.

We also have a resident medical officer (RMO) who is available 24 hours a day to ensure that patients are safe and care for at all times. Should your care needs change following surgery or treatment, we may need to transfer you to another hospital. This will either be to an NHS or another Circle hospital. Transfers of care only take place when absolutely necessary.
