About us
The hospital offers a wide range of services including orthopaedic surgery, spinal surgery, neurosurgery, cardiology, and cancer care, as well as a Private Walk-in Centre and a private GP service.
The hospital has 128 beds, with all rooms offering the privacy and comfort of en-suite facilities, satellite TV and telephone.
The Alexandra Hospital opened in 1981 and has earned an international reputation for safe and effective outcomes across a wide range of treatments, from complex cardiac cases to minor surgery.
Today over 500 consultants choose to practice from the hospital, many of whom hold teaching responsibilities and are renowned for their experience, attracting patients worldwide.
The Alexandra Hospital is continually investing and upgrading its facilities with the recently completed replacement of the 1.5T MRI Scanner that enables faster scan times and full refurbishment of Chester ward and expansion of the number of ITU beds to 7 enables the increased complexity of surgery.
The hospital provides the reassurance of level 3 Intensive Care and Level 2 High Dependency Care facilities at a level above most private hospitals, should they be required. A resident medical officer (RMO) is available 24 hours a day to ensure that the hospital provides an ideal environment for patients to be safe and cared for at all times.
Should your care needs change following surgery or treatment, we may need to transfer you to another hospital. This will either be to an NHS or another Circle hospital. Transfers of care only take place when absolutely necessary.
Advanced robotic surgery at The Alexandra Hospital
We have invested in several state-of-the-art robots, allowing our consultants to perform complex surgery across multiple specialist areas of medicine, including women’s health, joint health, and cancer care. Our robotics combines the unparalleled expertise and skill of leading consultants with extreme accuracy and precision, ensuring you get the most out of your surgery and recovery.
Our investment in advanced robotic technology help consultants perform procedures with smaller incisions than traditional surgery. This minimally invasive technique can cause less damage to surrounding tissue and nerves, which significantly reduces the risk of scarring and complications occurring during surgery. This also speeds up your recovery time, meaning you can return from hospital and get back to the peace and comfort of your own home sooner.
Our robotics at The Alexandra Hospital include a da Vinci surgical system, Stealth Navigation system, and 3D mitral valve surgery.
