Paying for your own private treatment
Many people want to know that they can have access to private treatment when they need it, but are put off by the monthly cost of insurance plans.
This is where self-pay can be a more attractive option, because you only pay for healthcare when you need it.
You can still pay monthly for healthcare using our flexible payment plans (more below), but you won't run the risk of paying for more than you need or use.
How does self-pay work?
Anyone can pay for their own treatment with Circle Health Group. 'Self pay' can be used to cover the cost of private treatment at any of our hospitals and with any of our consultants.
-
The main benefit of paying for yourself is that it gives you easy access to private medical care.
Whatever medical condition you have and whatever treatment you need, you can simply pay for it using your own money.
This is not true of private health insurance cover, which generally will not pay for pre-existing medical conditions (for example heart disease or diabetes) or cosmetic surgery, for example.
In fact, many people with private medical insurance will still use our self-pay services for access to private treatments that aren't covered by their plan. Using self-pay does not affect your private health insurance plan or premiums in any way.
-
If you choose self-pay, we will put together a fixed-price package that covers any treatment you need as well as follow-up appointments and aftercare.
You'll pay for your initial consultation (and any diagnostic tests done at this time) separately, but once we have reached a diagnosis and devised your personalised treatment plan, a fixed price will be confirmed to you in writing.
This means you will know exactly what you have to pay before you agree to have treatment with us, and you won't experience the nasty surprise of unexpected costs later on.
-
We work with Chrysalis Finance to offer flexible payment plans, meaning you can get a loan that covers the costs of your treatment at any of our hospitals.
You can spread the cost of treatment over a period to suit you, making for monthly instalments that are easier to manage. Find out more in the section below.
-
At Circle Health Group, we put a real focus on aftercare and rehabilitation to support our patients in making the fastest and fullest recovery possible.
If you choose one of our self-pay fixed-price packages, you'll get six months' aftercare included. So you can focus on getting better without worrying about hidden or unexpected costs popping up down the line.
-
You don't have to leave the National Health Service behind just because you pay for a private consultation or procedure. Using private healthcare has no effect whatsoever on your status as an NHS patient.
Many people choose to move between private and state healthcare, and neither Circle Health Group nor the NHS have any problems with you doing the same.
-
We offer flexible payment plans that can help you to spread the cost of your private treatment. If you don't want to pay all at once, you can split the price into more manageable monthly instalments.
We do this via loans, which we offer in partnership with Chrysalis Finance.
You can spread the cost of treatment across a period to suit you, from 10 months to five years, with interest-free credit for the first 10 months.

Private healthcare costs
Find out how much private healthcare costs and how these prices break down.
-
Private healthcare costs depend on a variety of factors, including:
- The region (and the private hospital) you choose to have treatment in
- The type of treatment you are having
- Which consultant is leading your treatment
Just like every person is different, every treatment plan is different, and so the cost of private healthcare will vary from person to person. Still, we know that many people want to get a rough idea of prices before they decide to go private.
Here are guide prices for some of our most commonly performed treatments and operations:
- The cost of hip replacement surgery starts from around £11,995*
- The cost of knee replacement surgery starts from around £10,995*
- The cost of cataract surgery (for one eye) starts from around £2,119*
- The cost of a knee arthroscopy procedure starts from around £4,306*
- The cost of a colonoscopy starts from around £2,011*
- The cost of a gastroscopy starts from around £1,649*
- The cost of gallbladder removal surgery starts from around £4,993*

Don't see the procedure you're looking for? Give us a call on 0800 096 2906 and our friendly advisors can help you find what you need.
We will always confirm the cost of any treatment or procedure upfront in writing, before you book.
* Our fixed-price packages do not include the cost of your initial consultation or any diagnostic tests done at the time. Prices will be confirmed after your first appointment with a consultant specialist.
All prices given are guide prices. Our treatment packages are bespoke, and therefore our private healthcare prices differ from case to case. We will confirm prices in writing before going ahead with any treatment.
These prices are only applicable to patients who are paying for their own treatment. If you want to pay for treatment using your health insurance, the costs will generally be covered by your provider.
-
Our fixed-price packages do not include consultant fees for the initial consultation. These vary quite a lot, but on average they tend to start from around £200.
You'll also have to pay separately for diagnostics done during this initial consultation, for example if you need an X-ray or blood tests. Your consultant will check that you are OK with these prices before booking anything in.
-
Many of our hospitals have dedicated pages that share the average prices for their most common treatments and operations.
To find these, use our hospital finder to find the Circle Health Group hospital nearest to you, and scroll down to the section called 'Treatment prices'.
