About us
Thornbury Hospital serves patients in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, North Derbyshire and surrounding areas, offering fast access to specialist consultants, usually within 48 hours, for diagnosis and treatment with some of the latest technology and equipment.
We pride ourselves on delivering the best patient experience possible, supported by a dedicated team of healthcare professionals and access to modern facilities. We see patients for a broad range of conditions including but not limited to Orthopaedics, Dermatology, Gynaecology, Urology, Cancer Care, General Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery and Paediatrics.
There is free on-site parking for patients and visitors. Thornbury has 64 private en-suite rooms, an on-site pharmacy, a modern physiotherapy gym and state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging facilities housed in our dedicated Scanning Centre.
With continual investment into the facilities at Thornbury Hospital, a brand new Ambulatory Care Unit has been built, offering a modern, private environment for minor procedures and the JAG-accredited endoscopy service for patients requiring gastroscopy, colonoscopy, urological and gynaecology daycase procedures.
Thornbury Cancer Care Unit situated on Rivelin Ward is home to Sheffield Oncology (LINK: Private Cancer Care & Treatment | Sheffield Oncology), and has held the MacMillan Quality Environment Mark (MQEM) accreditation since 2016 for the high quality, holistic care offered in the service.
Patients can access Thornbury Hospital’s services through private medical insurance or by self-paying. Referrals from GP’s are accepted, and insured patients should always check details with their insurance provider before attending any appointments. Many patients can self-refer and book online to see a consultant of their choice at a time and date to suit their lifestyles.
The hospital provides Level 1 Enhanced Care services as well as a resident medical officer (RMO) who is available 24 hours a day to ensure that patients are safe and cared for at all times. Should your care needs change following surgery or treatment, we may need to transfer you to another hospital. This will either be to an NHS or another Circle hospital. Transfers of care only take place when absolutely necessary.
