About us

Since 1982 Three Shires Hospital, part of Circle Health Group, has been a cornerstone of the local community. Nestled within 106 acres of picturesque grounds, shared with St Andrew’s Healthcare, it is conveniently located near the heart of Northampton town centre and just a short distance from Northampton General Hospital.

We provide a full range of services including diagnostics, treatment, management and recovery, for self-funding, insured and NHS patients aged 18 and over. Our expertise covers a wide variety of conditions affecting all areas of the body, from complex issues such as hip or knee pain, women’s health, hernias and stomach disorders, to more general health concerns and symptom management.

At Three Shires Hospital, you can expect to see a specialist consultant within 48 hours (subject to speciality), ensuring you peace of mind with fast and reliable treatment when you need it most. With access to more than 30 specialities, you can feel confident receiving both treatment and diagnostics under one roof.

From the moment you contact the hospital, our staff are here to help, and you will be greeted with a friendly smile. We provide information and reassurance about your diagnosis and treatment - whether you are attending as an outpatient or being admitted for surgery - ensuring that both our team and processes are designed to put you at ease.

We have a Resident Medical Officer (RMO) on-site 24 hours a day to ensure patients are safe and continuously cared for. Should your care needs change following surgery or treatment, it may be necessary to transfer you to another hospital - either within the NHS or to another Circle Health Group facility. Transfers of care only occur when necessary and are carried out with your safety and well-being as our highest priority.

In July 2025, we were honoured to receive an outstanding rating from the Care Quality Commission, with special recognition for our surgical pathway.

Matthew Cook, Executive Director of Three Shires Hospital said: “I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication that has gone into achieving an ‘Outstanding’ rating. The report reflects the agility, passion and drive we have to deliver an exceptional standard of care to our patients.

This success reflects the contribution from every single person in the hospital and the ambition to make Three Shires Hospital the employer of choice in the local area and the first choice for our patients.”

It is great to announce this partnership with NCCC as we have enjoyed a successful relationship with the club over many years.  We are well situated to help support the needs of the club and its players and have provided physiotherapy services such as hand therapy, completed scans and surgery where required to give the club access to time-critical treatment.

We admire the history and ethos of the club and believe we have many similar aims and ambitions given our roles in the local community and for that reason, we are delighted to be sponsoring an exciting talent in James Sales as he understands what it means to be a Northamptonian.
