Meet the fertility team

We understand that trying to conceive a baby is a stressful and emotional time in people’s lives. We aim to offer an exceptional level of service to make the chance of a successful pregnancy become a reality for our patients.

Our philosophy is to provide each person/couple with a tailor-made investigative programme and management package to suit their individual needs.

We are a very successful fertility centre that offers treatment in a safe, friendly and well managed environment. Meet the fertility team.

  • We offer an experienced multi-disciplinary support team delivering both physical care and emotional support for a truly holistic approach throughout treatment
  • Egg/sperm sharing programme for eligible patients
  • Counselling available free of charge for all patients
  • Egg collection under general anaesthetic
  • Seven day's a week service
  • We offer either private cubicles with televisions on our daycase unit or private room’s with en-suite facilities during any inpatient treatment (e.g., IVF / ICSI). Food is included during your stay at the hospital. Most patients are well enough to go home before lunchtime.

Jane Cuthbert CS MSc BSc(hons)

Jane is our Fertility Centre Manager and a Senior Embryologist. She helped set up the centre in 1989. She has been an ICSI qualified practitioner since 1998. Jane is a founder member of the Association of Clinical Embryologists.

Manjeet Hunjan CS MSc BSc(hons)

Manjeet is a clinical embryologist and joined the team in 2013, having worked in many other centres across the UK. 

Dr Melanie Lake CS PhD BSc(hons)

Senior Clinical Embryologist Fertility Centre Quality Manager, Melanie has a BSc degree in Anatomy and Developmental Biology and then went on the gain a PhD in Developmental Biology. 

Melanie is a state registered Clinical Scientist and has been an ICSI qualified practitioner since 1999. Melanie is a member of the Association of Clinical Embryologists. 

Amrit Surdhar CS BSc (Hons)

Senior Clinical Embryologist and Laboratory Manager, Amrit has a BSc degree in Applied Biology. She has worked at The Fertility Centre since 1995. In 2004 Amrit gained the Association of Clinical Embryologists Diploma in Clinical Embryology. 

Amrit is a state registered Clinical Scientist and became a registered ICSI practitioner in 2005. Amrit is a member of the Association of Clinical Embryologists and the British Fertility Society. On top of her duties as Laboratory Manager she also acts as a sperm donation co-ordinator.

Jo Turner

Jo is a state registered Biomedical Scientist with many years of experience within andrology prior to her joining The Fertility Centre in 2007. Jo performs routine semen analyses and sperm freezing.  

Hannah Cuthbert

Hannah completed her Degree and Masters in Microbiology at Cardiff University. She completed her Scientific Training Programme (STP) training in September 2022 and was granted her registration as a Clinical Scientist by the Health and Care Professionals Council in October 2022. Hannah has now completed her training in Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI) and is performing all routine aspects of embryology.

Sister Katie Roberts

Katie worked as a Registered General Nurse before training for a degree in Midwifery. Katie worked as a registered midwife before joining The Fertility Centre in 2005. Katie’s duties include ultrasound scanning, early pregnancy scans, and assisting in theatre. 

She undertakes all duties associated with general fertility nursing and the care of our patients. Kate also acts as the sperm donation co-ordinator for the import of donor sperm.

Sister Claire Thompson

Claire is a Registered General Nurse and is an experienced fertility nurse having started working within the Fertility field in 1993. Claire joined The Fertility Centre in 1998. Claire’s duties include ultrasound scanning, early pregnancy scans, and assisting in theatre. 

She undertakes all duties associated with general fertility nursing and the care of our patients. Claire also acts as the egg donation co-ordinator.  

Sister Jill Wilson

Jill has worked as fertility nurse since 1996. Jill has been a member of RCN fertility nurse’s forum shaping policy and protocols for fertility nurses nationally. Jill has presented work at scientific meeting and was the winner of Canadian Exchange Nurse Prize.

Theresa McAuliffe

Theresa is a qualified fertility nurse, she trained as a midwife before joining the field of fertility. Her strength stems from her midwifery background: she understands pregnancy related issues very well.

Shante Watkins

Shante moved to The Priory fertility team at the start of 2020 from her background as a nurse within the hospital. She has completed her training and qualification as a fertility nurse and now scans and manages all aspects of fertility treatment.

Denise Mace, Receptionist

Denise has worked at The Fertility Centre since 2004. Denise works as the receptionist and is the first point of contact for patients, and as well as booking appointments she also deals with all general patient telephone enquiries.

Jackie Hare, EDI Administrator

Jackie has worked at The Fertility Centre since 2001 and is responsible for all the data entry which we are required submit to the HFEA. 

Gemma Marke, Notes Administrator

Gemma is responsible for collating all the information required for making up treatment notes.

Rebbeca Hare, Administrator

Astrid Gibbs

Astrid is a highly experienced counsellor and has been helping fertility patients for fifteen years. She has worked here at The Fertility Centre since 2000. She has Diplomas in Humanistic Counselling and Clinical Hypnotherapy. 

She is a member of the British Association of Counselling Practitioners and the British Infertility Counselling Association.
