Meet the Physiotherapy team at Shirley Oaks Hospital

Tristanne Morbey

Clinical Services Manager - Physiotherapy

Tristanne qualified from King's College London in 1997 with a BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy and worked initially in the NHS before moving into private practice. She has been the Physiotherapy Manager at Shirley Oaks since 2015 and still works clinically in both out-patients (MSK) and on the ward, whilst managing the physio team including hand therapy and Women’s/ Men’s health physio.

Tristanne specialises in musculoskeletal out-patients with special interest in post operative rehabilitation for orthopaedic patients. The focus of care is on ensuring enhanced recovery for these patients. This involves managing patients pre-operatively to make sure patients are at optimum strength and have a greater understanding of their surgery to allow for a quick, smooth and goal centred recovery.

She also treats neck and back pain, sports related injuries and uses exercise-based treatments in conjunction with acupuncture to manage pain and help improve function. And also has an interest in chronic pain and the understanding that patients need to be treated holistically to allow them to take control of their symptoms and manage their pain effectively.

She works closely with orthopaedic, rheumatological and neurosurgical consultants which helps to manage patients treatment pathways and expedite referral to other services eg radiology  and out-patient services within the hospital if required.

At Shirley Oaks we work as part of a multidisciplinary team that guarantees patients have the best possible care and that their needs and goals are personalised and achievable.

Tejal Mistry-Sojitra

Tejal, a graduate of the University of Teesside in 2007, has had a fruitful career working in the NHS and private practice in the city. She has gained a broad range of experience in the NHS and subsequently specialised in neuromusculoskeletal physiotherapy. She brings a unique skill to the team by using the Integrated Systems Model (ISM). This is an innovative patient-centred approach that considers the whole body when treating any musculoskeletal problem and aims to restore normal movement patterns and optimise functional performance.

Tejal is an APPI Pilates instructor and can incorporate Pilates-based exercises into rehabilitation; hence this combined approach can support returning to sport and normal activities. She is also able to teach well-structured Pilates classes to various levels to accommodate individuals’ abilities and goals. She also has experience teaching Pilates classes privately over the last 10 years in various settings from Pilates studios to community-based classes.

Tejal has been working for Circle Health Group since 2019. She is experienced in rehabilitating post-operative orthopaedic surgery i.e., Total hips/knee replacements, Knee ACL surgery, shoulder rotator cuff surgery and has dealt with complex spinal surgery. She uses an individual’s functional goals to create a rehabilitation program that is patient centred and targeted to the ability.

Tejal is a keen hockey player and generally enjoys outdoor activities like surfing, snowboarding, and hiking. She enjoys keeping fit through fitness classes and practises yoga regularly. She is well travelled across Europe and Asia and challenged herself when volunteering in Sri Lanka after university.

She is keen on assessing the root of any musculoskeletal problem and finding the optimal solution to maximize rehabilitation outcomes.
