Gastric band surgery is a procedure for patients wishing to lose weight and achieve long term weight loss. Gastric band surgery limits how much food you eat by inserting an inflatable band around the stomach dividing it into two parts.
Gastric bypass surgery is a procedure where the stomach is stapled into two parts making your stomach smaller taking in less food. The food bypasses the stomach and part of the intestine through a small intestine that has been rerouted to the small stapled part of the stomach.
Gastric sleeve surgery is a procedure for patients wanting to lose weight. When a gastric sleeve is placed around the stomach, it reduces its size and makes you feel fuller.
A duodenal switch produces the same reduction as in a gastric sleeve, however with a duodenal switch, part of the stomach is removed.
The Kent Weight Loss Centre has been accredited a Bariatric Surgery Centre of Excellence by the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and Metabolic Disorders (IFSO).
