  • Chronic pain management - if you have had persistent or long-standing pain that has failed to respond to previous treatments, then it would be helpful to consult a physiotherapist.
  • Gait analysis - is the assessment of the lower limb biomechanics, e.g. how you stand, walk or run, to help identify problems in your legs, hips or even your back. It can help prevent painful conditions developing or recurring.
  • Pelvic health rehabilitation - pelvic health physiotherapists are specially trained to assess and treat a range of conditions that can cause pelvic problems, such as incontinence of the bladder or bowel, or pelvic pain.
  • Physiotherapy for sports injuries - the diagnosis and treatment of muscle, joint and nerve problems caused by practising a sport or exercising, including muscle imbalances, joint pain and post-fracture rehabilitation. The aim is to get you back to sport as soon as possible.
  • Pilates - a form of exercise that may improve balance, strength, posture, flexibility and circulation. It focuses on strengthening the core abdominal and back muscles.
  • Shockwave therapy - also known as Extracorporeal Shock Wave Therapy (ESWT), it is used to treat chronic tendon problems, shoulder pain, painful heel, tennis elbow or pain in the Achilles tendon.
  • Biodex Isokinetic Machine - Unique machine to test the strength and power of the knee. This machine is used after all different types of knee surgery and is specifically used to help patients get back to sporting activities and fitness.
  • Women's Health - specialist treatment including post operative care, incontinence issues and muscle strengthening and conditioning

Physiotherapy may be covered by your medical insurance. You will need to check your cover with your insurer first and you may need a GP referral. Alternatively, you can pay for your treatment by cash, debit or credit card.

Your initial appointment will involve a 45-minute assessment of your condition so that a treatment programme can be specifically developed with you. Further sessions will consist of 30 minute appointments.

Nick Ireland - Physiotherapy Manager

Nick qualified as a Physiotherapist from the University of Brighton in 2011.  He worked in the NHS for 3 years, specialising in treating in musculoskeletal conditions. He then worked in a private physiotherapy and sports clinic for 3 years, where he enhanced his skills in sports injuries and advanced rehabilitation.

He joined Chelsfield Park in January 2019 and was then appointed Clinical Services manager in September. Nick now leads the department in maintaining their excellent satisfaction scores and ensuring all clinicians are highly trained and working within best practice guidelines. Nick continues to run clinics during the week around the running of the department.

Nick treats all areas of the body but has a particular passion for sports rehabilitation and still works in this field part-time. His treatment skills include manual therapy, taping, electrotherapy, acupuncture, strength and conditioning and gait analysis.

Laura Allchorne - Senior Physiotherapist

Having graduated from King's College University in 2004 Laura worked in the NHS for three years before moving into private practice at Chelsfield Park Hospital.

As a musculoskeletal physiotherapist, Laura treats a variety of problems including mechanical back pain, sports injury and post-operative orthopaedic surgeries. She is also qualified in reflexology which she uses as an adjunct to her physiotherapy treatments.

Sue Perry - Senior Inpatient Physiotherapist

Sue qualified from Guys Hospital in 1981 and worked there for 3 years before gaining a senior post at the Royal London Hospital. She transferred to work in the private sector in 1986.

After a period of being out of the profession to raise a family, Sue returned to physiotherapy after completing a return to practice programme at Brighton University. She started work at Chelsfield Park in 2006 on the wards. Her main areas of interest are Orthopaedics and Bariatric Surgery.

Sarah Ferns - Physiotherapist

Sarah graduated as a physiotherapist in 2013 from the University of East Anglia as a Master’s degree having previously graduated in BSc Human Physiology at the University of Leeds. She has worked over various areas in both the NHS and private practice which has given her a broad knowledge and experience of various acute and chronic conditions. Sarah decided to specialise in musculoskeletal physiotherapy in 2018 and is confident in treating all parts of the body but has a special interest in knee pain and sporting injuries.

Sarah is a qualified Pilates Instructor through the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) which aligns with her views that people should feel empowered to take an active role in their recovery and that exercise itself should be accessible to all.

Gillian Fox - Physiotherapist

Gillian qualified as a Physiotherapist from The University of Brighton in 2002 and worked in the NHS setting for three years. She has worked at Circle Health group since 2006 as an Outpatient Physiotherapist, but also specialises in Women’s and Men’s Health Physiotherapy.

She has a Post-Graduate certificate in Women’s Health Physiotherapy from the University of Bradford. In Women’s and Men’s Health she will see people with incontinence issues and also help in the management of prolapses.

She will also see ante-natal and post-natal pregnancy related conditions. Gillian treats a range of musculoskeletal conditions and predominantly uses manual therapy, exercise and acupuncture. She will also see patients for post-operative rehabilitation.

Ros Turgot - Physiotherapist

Ros has 34 years’ experience in physiotherapy, including clinical, managerial and academia.  She has 18 years’ experience at Chelsfield Park Hospital, specialising in inpatient physiotherapy across different disciplines. These include orthopaedics, bariatric surgery, women’s health surgery and neurosurgery.

Scott Oliver - Physiotherapist

Scott qualified as a Physiotherapist from Brunel University in 2013. Scott spent six years in the NHS gaining extensive experience within Trauma and Orthopaedics. Scott has worked at Chelsfield Park Hospital since 2019 as a senior Outpatient Physiotherapist.

Scott has also attained a degree in Sport and Exercises Science. With a previous career in Football, this has led to special interests in Strength and Conditioning and Return to Sporting activities. Scott assesses and treats adults and paediatrics with musculoskeletal conditions as well as those who have recently undergone orthopaedic surgery where he uses a movement analysis approach to restore patient function.

Scott is trained to use shockwave therapy, biodex testing and our foot scan for customised orthotics
