Straight-Talking and Patient-Centred Care
Nev is known for his friendly and straightforward manner, presenting information in a clear and logical way. He ensures patients and their families fully understand their condition and treatment options, helping them make informed decisions with confidence.
Comprehensive and Evidence-Based Treatment
Nev takes an evidence-based approach to knee surgery, staying at the forefront of advancements in orthopaedics. He is actively involved in research and teaching, regularly speaking at major conferences such as the AO Paeds Trauma Conference, ISAKOS 20205 and the British Orthopaedic Association Congress.
Trusted by GPs and Specialists
Nev’s reputation extends beyond Reading, with GPs and specialists from across the UK referring patients to him for his expertise in knee surgery. His high success rates and patient satisfaction make him a trusted name in orthopaedic care.
Passion for Injury Prevention
Nev has witnessed a significant rise in sports-related knee injuries, particularly ACL injuries in young athletes, which can lead to early arthritis and long-term mobility issues. He is deeply committed to injury prevention programmes.
As a trustee of the charity Power Up to Play, Nev is at the forefront of efforts to introduce injury prevention programmes in UK schools and sports clubs. His work aims to reduce the growing burden of knee injuries on young athletes and the NHS.
Beyond Surgery: Life Outside the Operating Theatre
Nev’s family life revolves around sport. His wife, Lauren, is a fellow consultant at The Royal Berkshire Hospital and an Ironman Triathlete—she is the current Welsh Long Distance Champion, having won Ironman Wales 2024. Their three sons are equally passionate about rugby, football, and cricket.
The family has travelled internationally for competitions, including to Kona, Hawaii, in 2022 to support Lauren as she competed in the Ironman World Championships.
A Passion for Golf - Outside of orthopaedics, Nev’s lifelong passion is golf. Inspired by his mother and grandmother, both talented county players, he has achieved notable success, including winning club championships and competing in prestigious tournaments. He has also played twice in The Open Qualifying events.
Currently playing at The Berkshire Golf Club with a +1 handicap, Nev often draws parallels between golf and surgery, emphasising preparation, consistency, and handling unexpected challenges—all crucial skills in both fields.
