About Mr Mallappa Kolar

Personal Profile

Mr Kolar is a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at The Huddersfield Private Hospital.

He has nearly 20 years experience in plastic surgery, with his primary drive and passion stemming from the belief that the patient experience can always be improved. He has sought to do this by broadening his exposure in multiple plastic surgery and cosmetic surgery centres across the world and adding to the knowledge basis by completing both a MD and PhD in Sweden, utilising fat and dental stem cells to aid regeneration, making him one of a handful in the country with this level of expertise.

His love for cosmetic surgery stems from an early passion for Art at school, in multiple media combined with its application in Medicine. He has sought out practical experience with the best minds and hands in cosmetic surgery from across the world, with the aim of amalgamating the techniques from each surgeon to provide the best quality of care he can for his patients. This resulted in him visiting centres in the US, UK, Sweden, Spain, Italy, Germany, Lebanon and India.

Mr Kolar’s passion in plastic surgery was established in 2004, when he worked in both India and the world-class centre in Dallas, USA. He completed his training in Yorkshire as a junior surgeon, then went on to complete the nationally run plastic surgery training programme where he was amongst the top 10 candidates nationally when he was selected. He dedicated time to focus on facial plastic surgery any opportunity to visit other surgeons and units in USA, Turkey, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Finland, Germany, the UK and Lebanon.

Mr Kolar completed his medical school in Leeds, having completed both a medical degree and bachelors in Medical Management at Imperial College London for a year. He sought out opportunities to better understand the healthcare process both from a patient facing and back office point of view, from an early stage to proactively gain a wider perspective. He has published over 10 international publications and presented over 30 times all across the world based on the breadth of plastic surgery.

Working for many years in the NHS has allowed him to consolidate a wealth of knowledge and experience. He has now set up his own private practice and built a centre of excellence for cosmetic plastic surgery.
