What is brow lift surgery?

With age, you may find that those lines that run along your forehead become more obvious and more permanent. A brow lift, or eyebrow lift surgery, will help to remove your wrinkles, and give you a more youthful appearance again. Not only will that enhance the way you look, it should also greatly boost your self-confidence.

Your brow lift operation

Your consultant surgeon will usually make a cut from ear to ear, just behind the hairline, to make sure that any scarring will not be visible. The skin will be tightened and excess fatty tissue removed before the cut is closed with stitching and then bandaged. This operation will usually take place under general anaesthetic and you will need to stay in hospital for one night afterwards.

Recovery

Take a full week off work to give yourself plenty of time to recover from the surgery, and then try to avoid strenuous activity for another fortnight after that. The bandage should be ready to remove after a couple of days, although you should still be careful washing your hair to begin with. Obviously, your consultant surgeon will talk you through all this before you leave hospital so you know exactly what you can do and what you can’t immediately after the operation. The area is likely to be tender for the first few days, but this should soon pass and you can use painkillers to relieve any discomfort.
