Our expert multidisciplinary team of experienced consultant radiologists, radiographers, assistant practitioners and imaging assistants at Sarum Road Hospital use modern, state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging technology to diagnose conditions fast and help you to find the right treatments for you.
Results are typically available within 7 days dependent on specialty. Urgent reports are available on a same day basis. All reports will go back to the referring clinician who will discuss the results with you.
They show images of abnormalities that cannot be seen from outside your body, such as broken bones or shadows on the lungs. Depending on what type you’re having, an X-ray should take 15-30 minutes and is carried out by a radiographer
MRI scanning is one of the safest imaging techniques available and can be used to produce images of almost any part of the body and can produce images from all angles. The detail in these images is so good that a cut as small as 2mm can be seen.
The Siemens MRI Scanner at Sarum Road Hospital, can scan up to 20 patients in one day.
MRI’s aids in the diagnosis of a vast number of ailments across several specialities including:
- Orthopaedic
- General Surgery
- Urology
- Gynaecology
- Neurology
After the scan is completed, our expert radiologist will provide a medical report detailing the findings which allows the referrer to establish the most appropriate management or treatment.
- General
- Musculoskeletal/joints
- Vascular
- Gynaecology
- Thyroid
- Abdomen and pelvis
As well as being used to monitor an unborn baby in a pregnant woman, ultrasound is also used to highlight congenital heart disease, examine the prostate gland, uterus and ovaries and other organs. Ultrasound is also used during surgery such as biopsies (where the tissue sample is taken for analysis).
Appointments for all types of diagnostic imaging procedures can only be made once the diagnostic suite receives a referral from a clinician – for example a GP, a consultant or a physiotherapist.
