About us

Albyn Hospital is part of Circle Health Group, a leading provider of healthcare services throughout the UK. Located in the west end of Aberdeen, Albyn Hospital is the only independent hospital serving Aberdeen/shire and the North of Scotland.

Our facilities combined with the latest onsite imaging and diagnostic technology enables the team of over 100 Consultants to undertake a wide range of procedures ranging from routine investigations to complex surgery. Some of the main private treatments offered at Albyn Hospital include orthopaedic surgery, eye surgery, one stop breast clinic service, gynaecology, general surgery and gastroenterology.

The Consultants are supported by an experienced and dedicated multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals and administration staff to provide patients with the highest level of care in a friendly and comfortable environment. Additional support services available on-site include a laboratory, pharmacy and audiology service. 

The hospital now has four operating theatre, 6 bed recovery bay, a new ward comprising of 7 new rooms for day case patients along with 29 ensuite bedrooms. 

The theatre team recently retained the AfPP’s Certificate of Achievement for Safe Perioperative Practice, and the outpatient breast oncology suite (the Sunflower Suite) is accredited with the Macmillan Quality Environmental Mark (MQEM). 

Patients can access our services through private medical insurance or by self-paying. 

Albyn Hospital accepts referrals from GPs, Optometrists and Physiotherapists.

We also have a resident medical officer (RMO) who is available 24 hours a day to ensure that patients are safe and care for at all times. Should your care needs change following surgery or treatment, we may need to transfer you to another hospital. This will either be to an NHS or another Circle hospital. Transfers of care only take place when absolutely necessary.

Bowel Screening

Albyn Hospital offers a bowel screening service for individuals of any age who have concerns about bowel cancer. This service is led by our Consultant Gastroenterologists who will carry out relevant tests which could include a Faecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) or a colonscopy.

Sacral neuromodulation therapy with InterStim™ System

Sacral neuromodulation therapy with the InterStim™ System is an advanced treatment option for patients suffering from faecal incontinence. This therapy is particularly beneficial for patients who have not responded to conservative treatments. As a minimally invasive procedure, it presents an option for patients seeking long-term relief from bowel disorders.

Delivering a full-hospital based care programme at Albyn Hospital, offering the best care and comprehensive treatment for various eye conditions from cataract surgery to corneal treatments. The clinic brings together an experienced team of Consultant Ophthalmic Surgeons who are supported by a highly skilled multidisciplinary team.

Albyn Hospital is located in the west-end of Aberdeen which is a 5-minute drive from the city centre.

Bus

The nearest bus stop to Albyn Hospital in Aberdeen is Holburn Junction or Rubislaw Place when using First Bus. The hospital is then a 5-minute walk from these bus stops.

Taxi

Albyn Hospital is a 30-minute drive from Aberdeen Airport or a 10-minute drive from Aberdeen Train station/Bus Terminal.
