Miss Nneka Eze is a highly experienced Consultant Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) surgeon specialising in the care of adults and children. She is committed to delivering the highest standards of clinical care, combining specialist surgical expertise with a compassionate, approachable and patient-centred approach.

She places particular emphasis on communication, ensuring that patients and families understand their diagnosis, treatment options and what to expect throughout their care. Many of her patients come through personal recommendations, and she frequently treats several members of the same family.

Miss Eze previously worked as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at St George’s Hospital in London for 10 years, managing both adult and paediatric patients. She now works exclusively in private practice, providing specialist ENT care across London and Kent.

Her clinical interests encompass a broad range of adult and paediatric ENT conditions, with particular expertise in children’s ENT surgery, ear disorders, hearing problems, nasal and sinus conditions, and airway disorders.

Alongside her clinical practice, Miss Eze is the founder of Dr Eze Explains, an educational initiative designed to help children and families understand medical procedures and hospital experiences. Through a growing library of engaging animated videos, she aims to reduce anxiety, improve understanding and help young patients feel more confident and better prepared for medical care.

Training

Miss Eze graduated from Imperial College London in 1999, having previously completed an intercalated BSc (Hons) in Biochemistry in 1996.

She undertook her general surgical and specialist ENT training within the South West Thames training programme, gaining extensive experience at several leading London teaching hospitals, including Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, Evelina London Children’s Hospital and St George’s Hospital.

She became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh in 2002 and was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of England in Otolaryngology, Head and Neck Surgery in 2011.

Her specialist training provided a strong foundation in the management of both routine and complex adult and paediatric ENT conditions.

Research

Research has been an important part of Miss Eze’s professional career. She has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in national and international medical journals and has presented her work at prestigious scientific meetings, including the Royal Society of Medicine in London.

She undertook 18 months of specialist research at Columbia University in New York, investigating cochlear micromechanics and the intricate mechanisms of hearing within the inner ear.

This technically demanding research involved detailed experimental work and advanced surgical techniques. During her time at Columbia University, she also gained further clinical experience with the hospital’s ENT surgical team.

Her research led to the award of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from the University of London in 2009.

Fellowships

Miss Eze completed two highly competitive advanced surgical fellowships at internationally recognised centres of excellence.

Her first fellowship was in Otology and Hearing Implantation at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, where she developed advanced expertise in ear surgery and hearing disorders.

Her second fellowship was in specialist Paediatric ENT Surgery at Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, providing extensive experience in the assessment and surgical management of children with complex ear, nose and throat conditions.

She also gained international clinical experience through a fellowship at Zurich University Hospital in Switzerland, working within the ENT department in both outpatient and operating theatre settings.

These fellowships have contributed to her extensive expertise in managing a wide range of adult and paediatric ENT conditions.

Consultant Appointment

Miss Eze completed her specialist surgical training in 2013 and was appointed as a Consultant ENT Surgeon at St George’s Hospital, London, in 2014.

During her 10 years as an NHS consultant, she developed extensive experience in adult and paediatric ENT surgery, including the management of complex clinical cases.

She now works exclusively in private practice, offering specialist consultations and surgical treatment to adults and children.

Teaching and Medical Education

Teaching and education have always been central to Miss Eze’s career.

She has extensive experience teaching undergraduate medical students and postgraduate surgical trainees and has received excellent feedback for her approachable and engaging teaching style.

During her time at St George’s Hospital, she was appointed as an educational supervisor, supporting and mentoring doctors throughout their surgical training.

She is also actively involved in encouraging young people to pursue careers in medicine. She delivers educational sessions to sixth-form students, introducing them to ENT surgery and medicine through interactive talks and practical workshops.

Building on her experience as a paediatric ENT surgeon and her passion for patient education, Miss Eze founded Dr Eze Explains, an innovative educational initiative designed to make medical procedures and hospital experiences easier for children and families to understand.

The initiative features a growing library of engaging, child-friendly animated videos covering common hospital experiences, investigations and procedures, including general anaesthesia, blood tests, scans, hearing tests, grommet surgery, tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy.

The videos explain medical experiences in accessible, reassuring language, helping children understand what may happen before, during and after their hospital visit.
