His research interests include: the use of proteomics (detection of proteins) in the early diagnosis and management of colorectal cancer, the treatment of erectile dysfunction after rectal cancer surgery and rapid access clinics for inflammatory bowel disease. He is also involved in several ongoing clinical trials and audits.
His particular clinical interests are the use of endoscopic and laparoscopic surgery in the early diagnosis and treatment of colorectal cancer and inflammatory bowel disease, and he currently offers the majority of his new cancer and IBD patients a laparoscopic resection. He is also keen to deal with diverticular disease, rectal bleeding and other benign anorectal pathologies as well as emergency and elective general surgery.
