Mr Nader Neil Terry Rehmatullah is a Consultant Trauma and Orthopaedic Surgeon with a specialist interest in Knee Surgery. He specialises in Sports Knee, Knee Preservation and Joint Replacement Surgery. His NHS Practice is based at Glan Clwyd and Abergele Hospitals in North Wales where he has been a consultant since 2020.
Since 2023 Nader has been the Welsh National Clinical Lead for Knee Surgery and recently he has become a committee member of the Welsh Musculo-Skeletal Interface Group helping to co-ordinate orthopaedic work between primary and secondary care in Wales. Mr Rehmatullah was born in England and educated in Cambridge. After completing a BSc in Physiology and Pharmacology with Honours he went on to study medicine at the first ever exclusively UK Graduate Entry Medical School at Warwick University.
Nader completed his basic surgical training in the Cambridge Deanery and his specialist orthopaedic training in the Mersey Deanery followed by two sub-specialist sports knee & knee arthroplasty fellowships at the world renowned Wrightington Hospital and his second at the prestigious Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Hospital, Oswestry, both of which are National Centres of Excellence for Orthopaedic Surgery. Nader maintains good links with Oswestry and attends their monthly Complex Sports Knee Clinics.
Nader is a member of a number of orthopaedic societies, detailed below. These help him keep up to date with the latest advances in knee surgery. Nader has published papers on sports knee surgery and other areas of orthopaedics. He is an examiner on the Wrightington Trauma and Orthopaedic Revision FRCS Course for upcoming consultants. Mr Rehmatullah maintains that it is his patients that drive his ambition to continually improve in all elements of his practice.
His bedside manner is continually complemented and his ability to explain diagnoses, outcomes and treatment plans to patients in a manner that they understand is exemplary. Outside of medicine Nader has always been a very keen sportsman competing In rugby, cricket, football, swimming and athletics. He previously competed around the world in the javelin event even throwing against the current mens World Record Holder Jan Zelezny and he was coached by the ladies ex World Record holder, Fatima Whitbread.
Nader still tries to keep in good physical and mental shape by cycling and attending the gym. He fully understands how being able to remain physically active impacts a patient’s mental health. He has been a keen golfer for over 30 years and is now a member of his local golf course in Warrington where he plays regularly.
