About Mr Moorthy Halsnad

Personal Profile

Mr Halsnad is a Consultant Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon based at the Regional Maxillofacial Surgery Unit, Queen Elizabeth University Hospital & Royal Hospital for Children (formerly known as Southern General Hospital & Yorkhill Hospital respectively) Glasgow. 

Mr Halsnad first qualified from Dharwad, India, in 1996 and completed a OMFS residency (MDS) before coming over to the UK for completion of Royal College of Surgeons Fellowship. As a junior trainee he trained under several eminent maxillofacial surgeons at London, North Wales, Swansea & Cambridge.  

He completed medical and surgical training (MBChB & MRCS) at Birmingham and was appointed to West Midland Maxillofacial specialist training programme for a 5 year duration. During this time he has been exposed to a full breadth of cranio-facial, head & neck surgeries. This included oral/skin cancer removal, reconstruction facial trauma, facial deformity correction, microvascular surgeries of face/neck, facial cosmetic surgeries, jaw joint surgeries and implantology. 

Mr Halsnad has published and presented both at national & international level. He has done an AO Fellowship at the Dept. of Mund Kiefer Plastiche Cherugie, The Military Hospital Ulm, Germany, where he had advanced training in navigation assisted and 3D technology aided facial surgeries. 

In Scotland he took up a consultant post at University Hospital Crosshouse, Kilmarnock (Nov 2013 - Aug 2015), and subsequently he has been appointed as a Consultant Surgeon with sub-specialty interest in Craniofacial, TMJ & Facial deformity surgeries in Glasgow.

In his NHS practice, Mr Halsnad is actively involved in the multidisciplinary team managing congenital craniofacial cases (fused skull sutures, deformed head/face correction), adult orthognathic cases and TMJ surgeries including total joint replacements. 

In his private practice, Mr Halsnad’s interests include a full range of Maxillofacial surgery i.e., dentoalveolar surgery (wisdom teeth/oral surgery), implantology, jaw/chin disproportions, removal of facial skin lesions/lumps, facial scar revision, facial aesthetic surgery and TMJ problems.

Please note, Mr Halsnad does not see BUPA or AXA patients.
