About Mr Michael Kurer

Personal Profile

Having been a consultant for over 25 years, the great majority of his patients present with shoulder problems and he has operated on literally thousands of abnormal shoulders and brings that experience to every new patient. He is also a shoulder ultrasonographer and has his own machine in the clinic. This means that we can do a one stop service, where patients are not only examined by a shoulder expert but also have their diagnostic ultrasound there and then, before if necessary having an ultrasound-guided injection as well. Not surprisingly, patients tend to be delighted with that convenience.

Over the years Mr Kurer has seen various treatments come and go and only uses those with a proven track record. He has also developed his own rehabilitation regimes for the common shoulder operations, namely decompression, rotator cuff repair, dislocation surgery, anatomic and reverse shoulder replacement. He has produced videos for patients explaining these.

Mr Kurer also works closely with shoulder physiotherapists to maximise the chances of patients recovering fully and for example, returning to strenuous hobbies such as tennis and golf. He therefore tries to offer the complete shoulder service from the moment the patient comes to the clinic until when they have fully recovered. Visit his professional website.

He also has a particular interest in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome and has a dedicated website for this, www.carpaltunnellondon.co.uk.

Mr Kurer has a special accelerated regime, where patients start to use the hand the day after surgery and are able to look after themselves completely independently. Many of his patients have had both hands done at once and many are so pleased with their first operation that if the other becomes symptomatic, they come back to that done at a later date.

He also has a busy NHS practice and is also Clinical Director of Orthopaedics at North Middlesex University Hospital and Chair of the Medical Advisory Committee at Hendon Hospital.

Finally, he lectures to GP's and here is a link to one of those lectures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dyqiEXzugtE&t=3s
