Dr Lisa Hyland is particularly skilled in joint preservation techniques, including corticosteroid, platelet-rich plasma (PRP), autologous blood, prolotherapy and viscosupplementation (hyaluronic acid) injections, as well as musculoskeletal ultrasound and ultrasound-guided interventions.
Dr Lisa Hyland’s exceptional skills and dedication have led her to key roles in elite sports settings. She is the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) for Northamptonshire County Cricket Club. She is also CMO for Great Britain Archery, where she oversees medical care for both able-bodied and para-athletes and supported their journey to the 2024 Paris Olympic and Paralympic games. Notably, she served as a team physician for England Netball during the 2023 Netball World Cup Silver medal success.

In addition to her elite sports roles, Dr Lisa Hyland has worked as an NHS consultant at the National Centre for Sport and Exercise Medicine and Leicester General Hospital, providing care for acute and chronic musculoskeletal conditions. She combines clinical expertise with empathy, experience and evidence-based practice to offer holistic and patient-centred care.
Dr Lisa Hyland’s passion for education and mentorship is evident in her roles as a First Contact Practitioner (FCP) mentor and guest lecturer on topics such as cardiovascular disease, physical activity, women in sport and musculoskeletal health. She has delivered numerous talks to healthcare professionals, community groups, and private sector audiences, championing the integration of physical activity into disease management pathways. Her impactful public health initiatives include embedding physical activity into coronary heart disease care pathways during her public health rotation and promoting the benefits of sports through evidence-based campaigns during the 2022 Commonwealth Games.
Her experience extends to leadership and quality improvement. She has redesigned clinical pathways to improve patient care for conditions such as frozen shoulder, scaphoid injuries, asthma, hypertension and diabetes, demonstrating her ability to innovate and optimise healthcare delivery.Dr Lisa Hyland’s dedication to clinical excellence is reflected in her achievements. She earned membership to the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine with distinction and holds a postgraduate certificate in Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, also with distinction. Prior to completing SEM training, Dr Hyland worked as a GP in London and achieved her membership to the Royal College of General Practitioner with distinction. Her training has included valuable rotations in accident and emergency, orthopaedics, adult and paediatric rheumatology, equipping her with insights into managing complex injuries, autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.

Outside of work Dr Hyland enjoys travelling, hiking, scuba diving, cycling, netball, football, basketball and yoga.
