Personal Profile

Mr Rahman is a Consultant Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary and Albyn Hospital where he has an interest in reconstruction following trauma and cancer and also in aesthetic surgery. He also performs non-surgical and laser treatments.

He graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 1999 and undertook training in Newcastle, Liverpool, London and Melbourne. In 2005 he was awarded a postgraduate research degree by University College London in abnormal wound healing states following trauma.

He returned to Newcastle in 2007 for higher surgical training in in the Northern Deanery, developing skills in head and neck surgery, limb and abdominal wall reconstruction. He undertook fellowships in Microsurgical Limb Reconstruction and Major Trauma at St Mary’s Hospital, London and in Aesthetic Surgery at the London Clinic on Harley Street. He was awarded the FRCS (Plast) in 2012 and entered onto the GMC specialist register for Plastic Surgery in 2014 when he took up his first consultant post as a head and neck surgeon in Newcastle upon Tyne. He returned to Aberdeen in 2016 as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon.

In Aberdeen, he has developed pathways for soft tissue limb reconstruction, co-founded an abdominal wall MDT and is part of the Grampian Skin Cancer team. He sits on Scottish and UK groups on surgical training, skin cancer and trauma and interviews at a national level for entry into Plastic Surgical Training. He continues to present nationally and internationally, publish in peer-reviewed journals and writes book chapters. He is also an honorary senior lecturer at the University of Aberdeen.
