Dominique Stone is a clinical audiologist with more than 20 years of international experience across public and private healthcare. She is dual-qualified in audiology and speech-language pathology, having graduated from the University of Pretoria in South Africa in 2004 with a Bachelor of Communication Pathology, specialising in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology. This combined training underpins her holistic approach to hearing, listening and communication, recognising that the impact of hearing difficulties often extends well beyond the results of a hearing test.
Following her qualification, Dominique completed community service in South Africa and subsequently developed her clinical experience in the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand. Her career has included diagnostic audiology, hearing rehabilitation, specialist paediatric services, service development and clinical leadership. She has particular expertise in assessing children with complex hearing or listening concerns, including those who’s developmental or communication needs require a flexible, individualised approach.
Dominique previously held senior leadership responsibilities within NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, including the role of Deputy Head of Department and Audiology Service Manager at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow. In this position she contributed to the development and delivery of paediatric audiology services, including early diagnostic pathways and hearing-aid provision for young children. Her experience working alongside ear, nose and throat specialists, paediatricians, speech and language therapists, education professionals and families has shaped her collaborative approach to care.
Her clinical interests include the identification and management of hearing loss from infancy through adulthood, paediatric diagnostic assessment, early intervention, and the assessment of listening and auditory processing difficulties. She has extensive experience adapting assessment techniques to the developmental stage and individual needs of the patient. She places particular emphasis on explaining findings clearly and providing practical recommendations that patients and families can use in everyday life.
In addition to her clinical work, Dominique has undertaken clinical governance leadership within The Hearing Clinic UK, supporting quality, patient safety, professional standards and the development of clinical pathways. She is also the founder of Hearing Pathways Ltd, an independent specialist audiology service focused on hearing and listening needs in children, young people and adults. Her work includes tailored management plans, hearing technology and remote microphone solutions, and communication with families, schools and other professionals when appropriate.
Dominique is registered with the Health and Care Professions Council as a Hearing Aid Dispenser and is registered as an audiologist through the Academy for Healthcare Science. She maintains a strong commitment to evidence-informed practice, professional development and accessible, person-centred care.
At Ross Hall Hospital, Dominique aims to provide thorough and compassionate audiological assessment, helping patients understand their hearing and listening difficulties and the options available to them. Her approach combines diagnostic expertise with careful listening to each patient's concerns. She believes that a meaningful assessment should not simply produce an audiogram, but should also help identify how hearing affects communication, confidence, learning, work and quality of life. Where further specialist investigation or intervention is required, she values coordinated care and appropriate onward referral. Her priority is to ensure that patients and families feel informed, supported and confident about the next steps.
Please note, to see Mrs Stone, an audiology referral is required.
