After qualifying from the University of Birmingham in 1994, Mr David Hartwright completed his Basic and Higher Surgical Training at Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, London.  He also gained experience whilst working in the Bristol Royal Infirmary and the Avon Orthopaedic Centre.

David has subsequently undertaken two fellowships. One in Trauma under Professor Trentz at the University Hospital in Zurich, and one in Lower Limb Arthroplasty / Sports Injuries under Professor Walsh at the Prince of Wales Hospital / University of NSW in Sydney and Mr Williams at the Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital / University of WA in Perth.

David started work at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital (RHCH) in September 2007 where he performs both hip and knee Arthroplasty surgery (Primary and Revision). He also performs arthroscopic knee surgery and manages sports injuries. He is actively involved in the Trauma Service at the RHCH and continues to pursue his interest in medical research.

Mr Hartwright aims to deliver the highest standards of patient care, as evidenced on I Want Great Care, he takes great care to get to know his patients and to provide a friendly and personalised service.

I Want Great Care - "David carried out a hip replacement for me. From my initial consultation he was very reassuring and put me at ease, explaining clearly and in detail what to expect during the operation and the choices available with regard to anesthetics etc. I believe my operation was more complicated than normal due to already having a screw in my femur from a previous operation many years before, and was a concern for me. However David was able to successfully remove it without causing any damage or degradation to the joint. I have just had my one year check, and all is good. I am walking completely normally and totally pain free and now have my life back again. Top marks to this man. I recommend him at the highest level!".
