He also offers reconstruction following cancer surgery, including breast reconstruction with abdominal (DIEP) and thigh flaps, skin cancer treatment, and reconstruction following head and neck, colorectal, gynaecological cancers, and sarcoma.
He is one of only a handful of plastic surgeons to be dual-fellowship trained in both breast cancer surgery and reconstruction. He was awarded a prestigious nationally appointed oncoplastic breast surgery fellowship in Newcastle, followed by an international fellowship in reconstructive oncology in Australia. He worked as a Consultant Plastic Surgeon at the world-renowned Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre in Melbourne where he refined his expertise in tissue transplantation for breast reconstruction before returning to Manchester where his NHS practice is part of the largest breast surgery service in Europe at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust Nightingale Centre. His cosmetic surgery training spans Manchester, Cheshire, Lancashire, Newcastle & Melbourne.
Mr Baker has served on national committees for the British Association of Plastic, Reconstructive & Aesthetic Surgeons (BAPRAS), Royal College of Surgeons of England, and was President of the Plastic Surgery Trainees Association (PLASTA UK). He is currently the National Lead for the BAPRAS UK National Flap Registry, a national project assessing outcomes following major reconstructions.
Mr Baker is widely published in the fields of breast surgery, post-operative recovery, and surgical training, and is frequently invited to present his latest work internationally. Outside of work he enjoys skiing, travelling, and spending time with his young family.
