About Mr Arpit Patel

Personal Profile

Mr Aprit Patel is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with specialist interests in lower limb arthroplasty, sports medicine, limb reconstruction, and selected areas of hand surgery.

After completing his core orthopaedic training, Mr Patel pursued an MSc in Sports Medicine at the University of Nottingham, gaining advanced expertise in the treatment of sports injuries. He has worked with both national and international athletes, providing care tailored to the demands of high-performance sport.

He completed two fellowships in Melbourne, Australia, focusing on paediatric orthopaedics and limb reconstruction.

Mr Patel has established a centre of excellence for navigated knee replacement surgery, utilising computer-guided technology to enhance precision and patient outcomes. He also regularly teaches on international courses related to navigated knee surgery.

In addition to his clinical practice, Mr Patel has held leadership roles within his hospital, including serving as Clinical Lead for the MSK Business Unit and as an executive board member for three years, contributing significantly to the strategic development of clinical services.

Outside of his professional life, Mr Patel has a strong sporting background, having competed nationally in hockey and basketball. He now enjoys playing golf and has a keen interest in travelling and exploring the culinary diversity around the world.

Having completed his dissertation on complex non unions of bone, Mr Patel has always been interested in stem cells. He has used bone marrow cells in fractures and having completed his sports medicine degree he has used platelet rich plasma for sports injuries. He is currently involved with various research scientists around the world and looking at a holistic approach to patient care using advanced diagnostic tools such as gut microbiome and genetic analysis to create a personalised care plan. He is also using stems cells for joints and also for longevity, helping patients live a better and healthier life using non surgical techniques.
