About Mr Andreas Baumann

Personal Profile

Mr Andreas Baumann is a Consultant Upper Limb Surgeon at Beaumont Hospital in Bolton. He specialises in disorders of the shoulder, elbow, hand and wrist.

Mr Baumann’s special interest is arthroscopic shoulder surgery, particularly sports injuries.

He qualified from The University of Munich Medical School in 2003. Following his surgical internship in Cape Town, he became a Lecturer in Anatomy, and completed a post-graduate doctorate degree at The University of Munich.

Mr Baumann underwent basic surgical training at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals and then trained in Orthopaedics in the North West of England. He was awarded a fellowship in 'Orthopaedic Surgery' at the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in 2013.

After completing his higher specialist training rotation in orthopaedics, Mr Baumann underwent fellowship training in 'Shoulder Surgery' at Stepping Hill Hospital in Stockport. Subsequently, he completed a fellowship in 'Hand, Wrist and Elbow Surgery' in Bristol before being appointed as an Orthopaedic Consultant in Upper Limb Surgery at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals in April 2017.

Mr Baumann has an active interest in teaching and research. He has published several peer-reviewed papers and book chapters and is currently the Clinical Governance Lead for Orthopaedics at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
