Professor Alwyn D’Souza is a Consultant ENT (Otolaryngology and Head & Neck Surgery) and Facial Plastic Surgeon specialising in complex nasal and facial surgery.
He has a wealth of experience in the treatment of wide range of conditions of the nose and face including diseases of the ear, nose and throat. He is recognised by all major national and international health insurance providers.
Professor D’Souza also sees self-referral non-insurance patients. His busy private practice at the The Blackheath Hospital is the hub that provides treatment for all ENT and Head and Neck surgery conditions as well as bespoke Facial Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery procedures, which include but not limited to rhinoplasty, facelift, blepharoplasty (eyelid lift), neck lift surgery and scar revision.
Because of his extensive experience and expertise, a large number of patients are referred to his clinic for second opinion and revision procedures both from the UK and abroad. This clinic treats patients with facial skin cancer and other surgical conditions and a number of tertiary referral patients requiring major facial and nasal reconstructive surgery procedures are also referred to this clinic.
Following his basic medical training at St John’s institute of medical sciences Bangalore, Alwyn proceeded with his post graduate training in the UK, rotating through teaching hospitals in the UK and Ireland, was awarded CCT by the Medical Royal Colleges. During his senior registrar training he was awarded the prestigious TWJ Fellowship to San Francisco (UCSF).
He obtained further training in Facial plastic surgery in Europe, Canada and USA. He holds the fellowship of The Royal College of Surgeons of England and Edinburgh as well as dual certification of the European and the International Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. During his specialist registrar training period Alwyn concurrently obtained additional qualifications in Medical training (PGCertMedEd) at Cardiff University and a BTEC in Laser Technology.
Alwyn is also a keen researcher, carried out research project on Electron microscopy of taste buds at Keele University and has intense interest in art and photography. He is a meticulous surgeon and passionately believes in providing the best available patient information and bases his consultations and treatment on clear, comprehensive patient assessment and inter-speciality referral where appropriate.
He is supported by his excellent, dedicated, experienced office staff, nurses, nutritionist and psychologist, who work to support our patients to achieve the best possible patient satisfaction, and hence a successful outcome.
As the leader of professional associations, he has held office of President of British society of Facial Plastic Surgery, and is the President Elect of European Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery (EAFPS.org). He is the Editor-in-chief for the peer reviewed ‘Facial Plastic Surgery Journal’ by Thieme publishers. Professor D'Souza publishes extensively, research and review articles in peer-reviewed medical journals and has authored several textbook chapters.
He is a key opinion leader, an invited speaker to both national and international conferences and is an examiner for postgraduate examinations both in ENT (otolaryngology) and Facial Plastic Surgery. He is a dedicated teacher and is the founder of Medical training courses: a body which provides medical school entry courses, GP courses, and facial plastic surgery courses for trainees and consultants.
His fellowship programme provides super-specialist training in Facial Plastic Surgery to suitably qualified surgeons from around the world leading to certification in Facial plastic surgery on completion of due examination and certification process.
