It is thyroid surgery performed through a minimal access 2cm neck incision, as opposed to the standard 5-10cm incision utilised in other thyroid surgery.
The operation is no different from any other form of thyroid surgery apart from the significantly reduced incision size. The operation takes about 2-3hrs.
The benefits for the patient are improved cosmetics with a scar that essentially "disappears" within 12 months of surgery.
The treatment is safe with very minimal complication rates post-thyroidectomy.
