Plastic surgery can be used to treat issues that you are born with, for example a cleft palate or webbed fingers. It can be used to treat scars and burns or other significant injuries. And you might also have plastic surgery if you have had to have surgery to remove a tumour or cancerous tissue.
Plastic surgery is different from cosmetic surgery, which is concerned with achieving a desired appearance. Plastic surgery is primarily concerned with restoring and preserving function, though improved appearance is often an added benefit.
Many of our consultants are both plastic surgeons and cosmetic surgeons, though some will specialise in only one of the two. We also work with surgeons who offer plastic surgery for just one area of the body, for example oculoplastic surgeons specialise in eye surgery.
If you have plastic surgery with Circle Health Group you will be treated by our multidisciplinary team and, where appropriate, consultants from different specialties will work together to ensure you get the best treatment based on your individual needs.
Plastic surgery won't always be covered by health insurance, so you should speak to your provider first.
If you want to pay for your own treatment, you can either pay in full or take advantage of our flexible payment options, which allow you to spread the cost over a period of up to five years.
Our self-pay customers benefit from fixed-price packages, meaning you'll know exactly what you're going to pay before you book your surgery. Your initial consultation and early diagnostic tests won't be included, but the cost of your surgery and hospital fees are, and so is your aftercare programme. There are no hidden costs down the line.
Many conditions that are present at birth and cause abnormalities can be treated with plastic surgery. Common examples include cleft lips and palates, deformities to the hands or limbs (including extra fingers or toes), and significant birth marks. These issues can range from the mild to the severe, and while they are often treated in early childhood, you might also decide as an adult that you want to have corrective surgery.
Most burns are minor and will not need major treatment, but burns that affect a large area of the body can be very serious. Plastic surgery can improve the appearance of burns, but more importantly it can relieve some of the problems caused by burns, including pain and tightness as well as reduced movement.
Scars are part of your body's natural healing process and occur following an injury or wound. Plastic surgery for scars through scar reconstruction and correction can help improve the appearance of your scar.
Severe injuries from an accident or sport can cause damaged tissue or a loss of healthy tissue. Reconstructive surgery after trauma can help restore healthy tissue. It can vary from nose plastic surgery to reconstruction of larger sections of your body.
If you need surgery to remove cancerous tissues, you might be left with a deformity, unevenness or scarring that you want to have repaired with surgery.
A skin graft is an area of healthy skin that's moved from one part of your body to another, replacing lost or damaged skin. Often the graft will be taken from an area that heals well, such as your thigh or buttocks.
This is where your surgeon takes healthy skin, along with its blood vessels, and transfers it to another area without fully detaching it from your body at any point.
This is when areas of healthy tissue are stretched to encourage your body to grow extra skin that can then be used to reconstruct a damaged area.
If you have uneven or missing areas of fat, a fat transfer can correct them by moving fat from another area of the body to 'fill in' the uneven area.
A mastectomy (breast removal) can be used to treat breast cancer in both men and women. If you're undergoing a mastectomy to treat breast cancer, your surgeon might talk with you about breast reconstruction surgery. This can restore the natural shape and appearance of your breasts.
Carpal tunnel syndrome is a condition where the nerve in your wrist becomes compressed. This puts pressure on your nerve, and can lead to numbness and pain in your hands and fingers. Carpal tunnel release surgery can help resolve your symptoms.
Our talented surgeons offer a variety of techniques and approaches to correct tissue and bone damage as a result of accident or injury. This can include anything from skin grafts and skin flaps to fat transfer, as well as cartilage and bone grafts.
Scar reconstruction or correction can reduce the visibility of your scar. Healthy tissue through nearby flaps of skin or skin grafts can be then used to fill the space produced by the release of your scar.
