Huddersfield Private Hospital in West Yorkshire offers a directly accessible cardiology service for patients with suspected and known heart problems. This service is complemented by a range of non-invasive cardiology investigations.
Heart conditions often present with one or more of the following symptoms, which should all be investigated by a cardiologist:
Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is an important part of looking after your heart. Some aspects of an individual’s lifestyle can contribute to their risk of cardiovascular disease. It is important to be aware of warning signs that could indicate a problem and to see your doctor for a check-up.
You can rest assured you will receive the highest level of care as specialist cardiologists consistently and effectively treat common conditions. We provide a comprehensive range of non-invasive diagnostic tests carried out by experienced consultant cardiologists.
The following cardiology procedures are non-invasive and can be performed at Huddersfield Private Hospital:
These tests are particularly useful in patients presenting with palpitations, dizziness or blackouts and allow accurate diagnosis and management of heart rhythm disturbances.
Our consultant cardiologists at Huddersfield Private Hospital offer Zio Heart monitoring for the effective diagnosis of many types of arrhythmia's, including the most common arrhythmia, atrial fibrillation (AF).
You may need a Zio XT patch monitor if you have been having palpitations or fluttering in your chest. Sometimes, palpitations are described as a racing heart or pounding in the chest.
A Zio XT heart monitor is a small patch heart monitor worn on your chest for 2 weeks. It is a type of heart monitor that can be worn while you continue with your everyday activities. It is free from wires and doesn’t need recharging.
All of the above investigations are interpreted and reported by our experienced team of consultant cardiologists, all of which have clinics throughout the week. Please note that some of our consultants may require a referral letter and a recent ECG. If you do not have either of these, please contact the hospital on 01484 533 131 to discuss this with a member of the team.
Please note that prices may vary depending on your individual treatment pathway. Any treatments are charged on top of the consultation fee and may also include a consultant fee. If you are funding your own treatment and are unsure of any prices, please contact the Self Pay team on 01484 550461 or email on [email protected].
If you are using your private medical insurance, please confirm with your insurance company before attending your appointment that you have pre-authorisation. Every insurer and policy is different and we will not be able to tell you what is included in your policy.
Questions they may ask include:
They will also ask about certain risk factors, such as whether or not you smoke or drink heavily, or if you are diabetic. This will be followed by a physical examination, where your consultant will listen to your heart and lungs, alongside checking your blood pressure.
Very often, patients need no further investigations, and your consultant can reassure you that nothing concerning has been found. For patients with high cholesterol or high blood pressure, your consultant can advise you on whether or not you should take medication as a precaution in order to prevent any future concerns.
Diagnostic scans will be required if you have mentioned having chest pain, shortness of breath, or palpitations, as they can be notable symptoms of a serious heart condition. These scans will take advantage of the extensive imaging facilities we have on-site, with further investigations available nearby if appropriate.
Those with palpitations may require a heart rhythm monitor, which records your heart rhythm over a period of 24-48 hours. These are usually sent out to your home address, allowing you to carry on with your normal day-to-day activities while the equipment records your heartbeat.
This is especially useful for patients where their symptoms only come on sporadically, allowing your consultant to assess the results of the monitoring at a later date.
