Women's health services at The Chiltern Hospital
Whether you are experiencing discomfort or pain in your breasts, are concerned or need breast specialist advice, The Chiltern Hospital in Buckinghamshire has specialist one-stop Breast Clinics designed to treat you rapidly and put your needs first.
Providing high quality care and advice, the Breast Clinic is staffed by highly experienced consultants and dedicated breast care nurses, ensuring you are supported and treated promptly. The Breast Clinic is staffed by Consultant Breast Surgeons on a daily basis during the week at the Chiltern Hospital, enabling appointments to usually be arranged within 24 hours of referral.
Upon arrival at the clinic, you will be greeted by a breast care nurse who will accompany you throughout the consultation process, guide you through any investigations you may need and arrange any follow up required. She is there to support you and address any queries you may have and will be available by phone or email following your appointment.
Our Breast Consultants have specialised specifically in breast treatments and surgery. They have vast experience both within the NHS and privately, and are committed to providing high quality care. They understand you might be apprehensive about results of investigations and aim to deliver these to you at the earliest opportunity.
In the majority of cases, investigation results are available on the same day as the clinic. Biopsy results typically take a few days to be analysed.
Should you require any surgery following your visit, our Consultant Surgeons are able to carry out the latest surgical procedures, such as sentinel node surgery (with intra-operative testing). They also perform various types of breast reconstruction and some cosmetic procedures.
If you have any concerns after you leave the Breast Clinic, you will be provided with contact details of the breast care nurse and details of local patient support groups. Whatever your breast concerns, The Chiltern Hospital Breast Clinic will ensure you are supported throughout.
The Breast Clinic has built strong links in the community with various support groups such as Macmillan Cancer Support and Upfront Breast Cancer Support Group.
Up Front is a breast cancer support group based at The Chiltern Hospital. Their aim is to provide empathy and support to those with breast cancer, at any stage of their treatment and beyond, as they continue with their lives. They hold monthly meetings at The Chiltern Hospital.
