The age at which screening should start depends largely on family history and the number and age of affected relatives.
What should I do next?
If you are over the age of 50 and due to be tested by NHS bowel cancer screen stool test, you should participate. However, if you:
- Are not eligible but you are worried about bowel cancer
- Have a family history of bowel cancer or polyps
- Are worried about any other abdominal or bowel problems
- Wish to undergo a colonoscopy or virtual colonoscopy as well as or instead of the stool test
