Circle Decontamination

We provide decontamination/reprocessing services utilising a computerised tracking and tracking system linked to our own logistics operation.

Circle Decontamination is a quality provider of surgical instrument decontamination/ reprocessing services.

We operate out of four accredited and compliant facilities (accredited to ISO 9001:2008, ISO 13485:2012, and compliant with MDD93/42 EEC through a bespoke Quality Management System). They are located at Radlett, Aylesford, Stockport and Glasgow.

We have migrated over 40 hospitals to outsourced services utilising a dedicated team of project managers and clinical specialists and use this breadth of skills and experience to the benefit of our customers and ultimately the patient.

We have the capability in each unit to individually mark instruments should that be required. Customer Service is handled by Production and Quality Control Supervisors at each facility along with regular meetings with customers to ensure optimum service delivery. Our absolute focus is on product quality and our highest priority is on safety and protection for patients and users.

  • All facilities are registered with a MHRA (Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency) approved notified body
  • ISO 9001:2008

  • MDD 93/42/EEC as amended by Directive 2007/47/EC
  • CFPP 01-01 (Service covers all relevant aspects of the Choice Framework for Local Policies and Procedures: Management and Decontamination of Surgical Instruments (Medical Devices) used in Acute Care.

Customers can feel secure in the knowledge that they are compliant with all the relevant standards associated with decontamination of surgical instruments should the CQC/HIS wish to audit your service.

Quality Management System (QMS)

  • Describes our commitment to quality assurance
  • Designed to ensure conformance with requirements defined in ISO 13485 and the Medical Devices Directive 93/42/EC
  • Checklist to ensure compliance with mandatory procedures associated with ISO 13485 documented with work instructions for the key processes involved
  • Regular internal and external audits of QMS carried out

Maintains customer satisfaction by focussing on customer requirements and the prevention of product failure.

  • Electronic Sterile Services Department Tracking and Tracing System which is common to all facilities (trays can be processed at any facility).
  • Records each process of the decontamination cycle.
  • Peel-off tray label can be attached to patient notes.
  • Information held on the system highlights product processing history and identifies technician responsible for that tray.

Customers can obtain processing history of all trays to provide an audit trail should that be required.

  • In-house managed transport service
  • Drivers are Circle Decontamination employees.
  • Trained in customer requirements.
  • Trial runs of customer routes carried out prior to service commencements.
  • Risk assessments carried out to remove, minimise and manage any access or health and safety issues.

Our drivers build key relationships with customers and continually develop and improve the service delivery via this relationship.

Surgical instrument decontamination and reprocessing

Individual Instrument Marking

  • All facilities have the capability to individually mark each supplementary instrument to ensure proper traceability.

Logistics

  • We run our own compliant logistics operation for carrying contaminated instruments and manage the important interface between Circle Decontamination and the customer.
  • We can provide UN3291 compliant transport boxes and trolleys - everything you need for a bespoke service.
  • By using Circle Decontamination trained drivers who understand customers' needs, strong relationships are built up between the driver and clinic staff who work together in delivering the optimal delivery and collection solution.

Service Transition

  • We have a dedicated Migration Team experienced in the transition of decontamination services.
  • In-house to Circle Decontamination and also from other service providers.
  • We recognise that the biggest area of risk is that of service transition and therefore utilise our experienced Migration Team to develop an agreed plan with each customer to ensure nothing is left to chance.

Clinical Support

  • We engage Theatre/Clinic specialists who can advise on practices, procedures and instrument choice to assist our customers.
  • Included with the decontamination and reprocessing service if required.
  • An invaluable resource, particularly with acute hospital contracts where additional instruments will be required when the service transitions off-site.
