Mr Menon served as Clinical Director for General Surgery, Vascular, Urology, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery and Gastro-enterology at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust for 11 years from 2008 to 2019. He is also the lead clinician for Bariatric surgical services and served as Clinical lead for Upper GI Surgery, and Chair of Upper GI Network Site specific group (NSSG) for Arden Cancer Network from 2004 to 2017. Mr Menon is the Honorary Secretary of British Obesity & Metabolic Surgical Society (BOMSS) and is also the Director of West Midlands Surgical Training Centre (WMSTC) one of the most advanced cadaveric training facilities in the UK. He is also the Section Editor - Bariatric Surgery for the Oxford Textbook of General Surgery.
Morbid obesity is becoming increasingly common and more patients are eligible and suitable to undergo such surgery to reduce complications relating to being overweight. He undertakes laparoscopic bariatric surgery (gastric bands, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass) intragastric balloon insertion (endoscopic) in addition to laparoscopic treatment of gall bladder disease, anti reflux surgery as well as laparoscopic surgery for hiatal and inguinal hernia.
Mr Menon also undertakes endoscopic work as well as surgical treatment for cancers of oesophagus and stomach.
