Mr Vinod Menon is a highly experienced Consultant General, Upper Gastrointestinal (GI), and Laparoscopic Surgeon. His main private practice is based at Meriden Hospital Coventry and Droitwich Spa Hospital. He also held a long-standing NHS consultant post at University Hospitals Coventry & Warwickshire NHS Trust.

He provides specialist care for a wide range of upper GI and weight loss (bariatric) conditions, with a strong focus on minimally invasive (keyhole) surgery.

Mr Menon completed his higher surgical training on the All Wales Higher Surgical Training (HST) rotation and achieved his Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training (CCST) in 2002.

Following this, he was appointed as a Consultant General, Upper GI and Laparoscopic Surgeon at University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire in September 2002.

Mr Menon has extensive experience in clinical leadership. He served for 11 years (2008–2019) as Clinical Director across multiple surgical specialties, including:

He has also held several senior regional and national roles, including:

  • Director of the West Midlands Surgical Training Centre (WMSTC), a leading cadaveric surgical training facility
  • Section Editor for Bariatric Surgery in the Oxford Textbook of General Surgery

Mr Menon’s clinical practice covers the full range of upper GI and bariatric surgery. His areas of expertise include:

  • Laparoscopic weight loss surgery (gastric band, sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass)
  • Endoscopic intragastric balloon procedures
  • Gallbladder surgery (gallstones)
  • Anti-reflux surgery for acid reflux
  • Laparoscopic repair of hiatal and inguinal hernias
