Personal Profile

Dr Vimmi Abbot is a Consultant Paediatrician with over 25 years of experience in Paediatrics. 

She studied medicine from LLRM Medical College, Meerut in India. She further completed Post graduate degree in Paediatrics and moved to UK in 2005. She completed the Paediatric Training Programme in UK during which she worked at various leading tertiary hospitals including Evelina London Children’s Hospital and Kings College Hospital.She did her subspecialist training in Paediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology from Kings College Hospital.

Dr Abbot has been working as a Consultant Paediatrician since 2012 at Princess Royal University Hospital, Kings college Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

She was instrumental in establishing the Paediatric Endocrine service at Princess Royal University Hospital and is currently the Clinical Lead for Paediatric Diabetes . Her job role also involves regular specialist endocrine clinic at King’s College Hospital, London.

Alongside her clinical roles, she is an educational and clinical supervisor to trainee doctors. She is also a trainer for Advanced Paediatric Life Support Course.

She offers specialist treatment with comprehensive range of general paediatric problems from the age of 0-16 years including Growth, Feeding issues ,Constipation, UTI, Asthma, Wheeze, Reflux, Abdominal pain and headaches.

Her special interest lies in Paediatric Diabetes and Endocrinology

(Hormonal problems like thyroid , growth issues, puberty). As part of paediatric diabetes management , she has a wealth of experience in managing paediatric patients with insulin pumps. In the NHS, she works within a multidisciplinary team comprising of specialist nurses, dietitians and clinical psychologists.

She is passionate about holistic care, promoting the health and well-being of her patients and their families. As part of this , she engages in empowering her patients and families with information and education. She is fluent in English, Hindi, and Punjabi.
