About Mr Tom Nicholas

Personal Profile

Mr Tom Nicholas is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon with a special interest in venous pathology.  Mr Nicholas specialises in minimally invasive and open varicose veins and venous treatments. Mr Nicholas’s practice covers all areas of vascular surgery with special interest in limb salvage, wounds and management of the foot in diabetes. 

Mr Nicholas is the Clinical Director for Vascular Surgery at the South Mersey Arterial Network based at Countess of Chester Hospital, also providing vascular services for Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals and Wirral University Teaching Hospitals. Mr Nicholas is the Clinical Lead for diabetic foot services at Warrington and Halton Teaching Hospitals NHS.

Mr Nicholas trained as a general and vascular surgeon giving him a wide exposure to not just vascular surgery. This helps him to undertake complex  open reconstructive vascular and combined surgery with other specialities.

Mr Nicholas is actively engaged with training doctors, colleagues and allied medical personnel. His role previously as Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons is a testament to his commitment to teaching.

With evolving minimally invasive techniques and use of technology in medicine, Mr Nicholas seeks to use the best of these, in not just vascular surgery but in delivering better care for patients in general. Mr Nicholas is a champion for patients and involves patient representatives in helping to steer the provision of care.
