 Dr Tamer Mikhail is a Consultant Physician and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (UK), with extensive experience in General Internal medicine, Hypertension, Diabetes and Endocrinology. He is also a Member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom.
Dr Mikhail graduated from Cairo University with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBCh), achieving an Honours degree, followed by a Master’s degree in General Internal Medicine. He has more than two decades of clinical experience across multiple healthcare systems, including the UK, Egypt, and East Africa.
Before relocating to the UK, Dr Mikhail served as Deputy Medical Director and Head of Internal Medicine and ICU at Coptic Hospital in Kenya for over 14 years. Since 2021, Dr Mikhail has been practising as a Medical Consultant with King’s College London, providing expert care in Internal Medicine with a focus on evidence-based management and patient safety. His broad clinical experience spans General Medicine, acute medicine, intensive care, long-term condition management, and infectious diseases, ensuring high standards of care for diverse patient populations.
Dr Tamer Mikhail is the current Clinical Lead for General Medicine at the Princess Royal University Hospital, King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He has a specialty interest in Diabetes and Endocrinology, and he is highly specialized in thyroid, parathyroid, calcium, and complex, difficult-to-treat cases of type 1 Diabetes, type 2 Diabetes, and essential, secondary, resistant, and refractory Hypertension.
Dr Tamer Mikhail completed his training at the prestigious Cairo University Hospitals, Cairo, Egypt, in the field of General Medicine, where he got his MBBCh, and Master’s degree in Internal Medicine, and then he was elected a member of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom, MRCP(UK) in 2018, and was honoured with the election to be a fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, United Kingdom, FRCP(Edin) in 2020, as an acknowledgment for his extraordinary contribution to the field of General (Internal) Medicine.
Dr Tamer Mikhail is a former lecturer of General Medicine at Cairo University's Faculty of Medicine in Egypt and previously served as an Honorary Senior Lecturer of Internal Medicine at the School of Health Sciences, University of Nairobi, Kenya.
With his academic background, Dr Mikhail has taught hundreds of medical students and postgraduate doctors in Egypt and Kenya, and continues to devote a significant portion of his time to theoretical and clinical teaching of the foundation doctors, international medical graduates, and internal medicine training registrars in the United Kingdom. He also lectured on different topics of Diabetes, Endocrinology, Hypertension, and General Medicine at the national and international conferences and symposiums in Egypt, Kenya, and the United Kingdom.
He has been acting as a mentor for medical registrars and resident doctors, in addition to his role as a clinical and educational supervisor and a trainer recognized and
accredited by the General Medical Council (GMC) of the United Kingdom.
