Ms Syma Ahmed has been a Consultant in Gynaecology for the past 10 years and has dedicated her career to improving patient care, advancing clinical services, and supporting education and training within the specialty. Throughout this time, she has taken pride in developing innovative and efficient services that enhance patient experience and outcomes.

Clinically, Ms Ahmed has led the development of day case services, including enhanced ambulatory hysteroscopy pathways at Wigan and Preston Hospitals. She currently leads the ambulatory service, where she has helped streamline care, reduce waiting times, and improve patient satisfaction. Her surgical practice includes complex procedures such as uterine septum resections for women with subfertility. She also performs benign gynaecological surgery and has excellent expertise in managing prolapse and pessary care. Ms Ahmed remains committed to maintaining her operative skills to the highest standard.

Education and training have always been central to Ms Ahmed’s professional identity. She runs the local hysteroscopy course and is an active member of the simulation faculty, delivering courses such as Advanced Gynaecological Surgical Skills and Basic Surgical Skills. As the Supported Return to Training and Less Than Full Time Training Lead for the North West Deanery, she provides guidance and support to trainees navigating complex personal and professional transitions.

Across all aspects of her work, Ms Ahmed strives to combine service development, clinical excellence, and a genuine commitment to supporting both colleagues and patients. She is proud of the contributions she has made to the specialty and remains passionate about continuing to innovate, teach, and lead in ways that enhance patient care and enrich the professional experience within Gynaecology.
