Dr Suki Dhamrait is experienced in all aspects of cardiology. He sees all patients with chest pain, breathlessness, palpitations, dizzy spells and blackouts.
The common conditions Dr Dhamrait treats are angina, valve disease, hypertension, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, atrial fibrillation and cardiac arrhythmias, amongst others.
Dr Dhamrait is able to use the following investigations to diagnose heart conditions: ECG, echocardiogram, ECG monitoring, cardiac CT, cardiac MRI and nuclear cardiology.
He is an expert in coronary intervention (angioplasty and stent insertion surgery to unblock the coronary arteries). He is an expert in cardiac catheterisation and coronary angioplasty both from the femoral (groin) and radial (wrist) approaches.
He also implants and manages patients with pacemakers, defibrillators (ICD) and loop recorders.
His expertise in coronary intervention (angioplasty and stent insertion) extends to primary angioplasty for emergency treatment of heart attack and to complex intervention for the treatment of diabetic heart disease, patients turned down for cardiac surgery, bifurcation (side-branch), chronic occlusion and left main stem, using pressure wire, intravascular ultrasound and rotational atherectomy (rotablation).
Born and raised in Berkshire, he qualified from Southampton University Medical School with First Class Honours and Distinction in Medical Sciences and also achieved a First Class Honours BSc in Biomedical Sciences. He was awarded a PhD in Medicine at University College London. His senior Cardiology clinical training was completed on the London rotation where he was an interventional fellow for five years at three centres of international excellence - The Heart Hospital (University College Hospitals London), St Bartholomew's Hospital and The London Chest Hospital, where he was instrumental in the setting up of a Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation programme (keyhole valve surgery).
