He is originally from Dublin having trained in Scotland with also brief periods in Melbourne and South Africa for additional training. He worked at the world renowned centre of excellence at the MATTU Centre at Guildford. Mr Brennan’s previous roles include MRCS examination tutor with the Royal College of Surgeons and is a fully trained advanced trauma life support instructor. His particular area of expertise is in keyhole removal of gall bladders for which he has a very low complication rate with a less than 1% conversion rate to open procedure and a 0% bile duct injury rate.
In a recent consultant appraisal, his colleagues have described him thus “Stephen is a very approachable and excellent laparoscopic surgeon”. “Great colleague”. “One of the very best general surgeons and clinicians I have seen and worked with. I would let him operate on myself and my family”.
Outside of work Mr Brennan has a wide range of skills including holding a private pilot’s licence, he has a black belt in American Kenpo karate, has completed the London triathlon and is currently training for an Iron Man competition. In his spare time, he shares these hobbies with his young daughter Caitlin. He lives locally in Beckenham with his family and is married to Kirsty who is a consultant paediatric surgeon at the Evelina Hospital.
