In addition to his work as a Specialist Foot & Ankle Surgeon Mr Weitzel has a general interest in lower limb joint replacement & general trauma surgery, offering the highest Clinical Excellence & Quality of Care.

He has been in substantive NHS consultant posts from 2004 to 2015 including at Queen Mary’s Sidcup, Princess Royal Bromley & Orpington Hospitals & King's CollegeUniversity Hospitals.

He has practised since 2004 in independent sector hospitals in the Southeast of London including Blackheath, The Sloane in Beckenham, and Chelsfield Park in Orpington. Since resigning from NHS employment in 2015 he has expanded his area of practice and has also been seeing patients at various institutions in Centre and Southeast of London. 

Mr Weitzel has over the years built an excellent reputation with patients and other service providers & referrers, (especially GP’s, physiotherapists & podiatrists) as a competent trauma & orthopaedic surgeon and one of the most experienced specialist foot & ankle surgeons in Southeast London.

His practice comprises not only forefoot surgery but also complex hind foot work such as ankle arthroscopy & replacement as well as osteotomy, tendon reconstruction and fusion. He has embraced advances in treating foot conditions using techniques such as minimally invasive surgery and non-operative therapies such as radial Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy.

Mr Weitzel remains very experienced managing general lower limb conditions including hip & knee arthroplasty & knee arthroscopy. He has been collecting prospective outcome data (Surgical Outcome System) since February 2017 and his data are published on the Private Healthcare Information Network (PHIN) and National Joint Registries.

His practice is GDPR compliant. He takes part in regular clinical conferences with colleagues and clinical governance activities to make sure his practice remains safe. He conducts regular appraisals with Circle Health Group and qualify for 5-yearly GMC revalidation.

For the last two years He has been working in close partnership with like-minded colleagues under the umbrella of Progen Orthopaedics LLP to expand his Central London work and provide patients and healthcare funders with an additional layer of clinical governance.

In addition, he cooperates closely with other orthopaedic colleagues and those from other specialties as well as allied health professionals such as podiatrists & physiotherapists. He provides comprehensive high-quality care and to achieve the best and most predictable outcome for his patients.
