About Mr Soulat Naim

Personal Profile

Mr Soulat Naim is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, specialising in all aspects of knee surgery, primary hip replacements and sports knee disorders. He is actively involved in teaching and holds vast experience of general and specialist orthopaedics. Mr Naim developed an interest in knee and hip surgery early in his career and has worked with some renowned surgeons and big units in these sub-specialities.

In 2011, after completing a prestigious fellowship in Knee Surgery at the Exeter Knee Reconstruction Unit (Princess Elizabeth Orthopaedic Centre), Mr Naim began his NHS practice at Consultant level.

Before starting as a Consultant at Tameside General Hospital, Mr Naim worked in a number of other centres around the UK, including Exeter, Leighton Hospital in Crewe, University Hospital of North Midlands (also a Major Trauma Centre) and Central Manchester University Hospital.

Mr Naim’s elective NHS and private practice encompasses all aspects of knee surgery and primary hip replacements. He performs hip and knee replacements, incorporating principles of early functional recovery, including the use of enhanced recovery techniques. He has a special interest in advanced surgical techniques for the management of knee arthritis in young patients which includes cartilage surgery, osteotomies/re-alignment procedures and different partial knee replacements.

He is also trained in the use of customised knee replacements and computer-aided knee replacements. He has a special interest in arthroscopic surgery of the knee, and surgery for sports knee injuries including ligament injuries, and also management of patellar (knee cap) instability and pain. He also performs cemented and un-cemented hip replacements with use of ceramic and advance plastic bearing materials where needed, especially in young arthritic patients.

He believes in tailor-made treatments for individuals, including advice on non operative/bracing treatment and injection therapy, along with surgical options where absolutely necessary. He is very interested in orthobiologics and the use of cell therapy for different orthopaedic conditions – including soft tissue conditions and arthritis.

Mr Naim has a strong research background and has widely presented and published. He has published 2 theses and co-authored a chapter in a major reference text book on knee reconstruction replacement and revision, published in the USA.
