From the commencement of registrar training at St Marys Hospital, London, Shaw has developed a specialist interest in upper gastrointestinal surgery. Working as lead clinician he has a comprehensive experience of complex upper GI surgical problems and leads one of the Souths foremost Upper GI Surgical Units. Shaw has also published and presented widely on upper GI and laparoscopic related subjects.
Over the last twenty years Shaw has developed and managed one of the largest practices of Obesity Surgery in the South of England. The Obesity Surgery Unit has experience of over 4000 cases and employs a multidisciplinary team for patient care. Currently, the Unit performs over 350 obesity procedures per annum and provides services for both NHS and Private patients. He is a member of council for the British Obesity Surgery Society.
