Mr Sergey Tadtayev is a Consultant Urological Surgeon, with his NHS practice at Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and private practice in Surrey and West London.

Training and Appointment

Having graduated with distinction from Kharkov State Medical University, Ukraine in 2002, he undertook his foundation and core surgical training at Addenbrookes, Cambridge and various hospitals around East Anglia. He trained in Urology in the North Thames region and was awarded his Royal College Fellowship and Certificate of Completion of Specialist Training in 2017, after spending his senior training years in the Departments of Urology at Royal Free and Royal Marsden hospitals in London. He completed a post-CCT Robotic Fellowship in Renal Cancer at Frimley Park Hospital.

Research and Publications

Mr Tadtayev gained his PhD in 2007 for his work in experimental pathology, completed at the Northwick Park Institute for Medical Research in collaboration with Kosair Children's Hospital Research Institute in Louisville, USA.

He published and presented nationally and internationally on a broad range of Urology topics. He is currently a co-investigator on trials in prostate cancer. His research interests include prostate cancer diagnostics, kidney cancer treatment and intersection of sleep medicine with urology.

Current Practice

Mr Tadtayev offers the full spectrum of general urology care in addition to providing subspecialist service in Uro-oncology. Mr Tadtayev helped to introduce Thulium laser prostate enucleation surgery (ThuLEP / HoLEP) at Ashford & St. Peter’s.

Mr Tadtayev offers sophisticated prostate diagnostics and MRI-US fusion prostate biopsy as a member of the prostate diagnostic team. He performs laser treatment of bladder tumours as well as undertaking open and minimally invasive surgery for kidney cancer.

Patient experience and high care quality are very important to Mr Tadtayev. At Ashford and St Peter’s Hospital, he is the Urology Clinical Governance lead.

Clinical Interests

In addition to his uro-oncology interests, Mr Tadtayev offers the full spectrum of the general urology care:

  • Contemporary interventions on the enlarged prostate - ThuLEP / HoLEP, Greenlight PVP, Urolift, prostate artery embolisation (PAE)
  • Laser treatment of kidney stones
  • Management of urinary symptoms, in particular, nocturia (waking up to pass urine)
  • Blood in the urine work up
  • Elevated PSA investigation with MRI and MRI-US fusion prostate biopsy
  • Treatment of phimosis and foreskin issues with circumcision and its alternatives
  • Investigation of scrotal / testicular concerns
  • Management of recurrent cystitis / UTIs, including with UTI vaccines
  • Men's sexual health issues and vasectomy
