Mr Sanjay Miranda is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon at Woodlands Hospital in Darlington, specialising in treatment of the hand, wrist and elbow. He treats NHS, privately insured and self-paying patients.
He trained in orthopaedic surgery and had further training to specialise in hand, upper limb and peripheral nerve surgery. He has been a full-time hand surgeon since 2003 and a Consultant since 2005. Mr Miranda has been a Consultant in a major trauma centre as a full-time hand surgeon and also part of a multi-disciplinary team, treating major trauma to the upper limb.
He moved to North Tees & Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust in April 2019 to complement a team of four hand surgeons. This was in order to build the hand trauma service. His orthopaedic training has been in Nottingham, Derby, Birmingham and Coventry and he spent two additional years of fellowship training in internationally-recognised centres of excellence in hand and upper limb surgery. These took place in both Derby and Sydney.
He and his team treat on average over 70 patients a week through the practice; his patients include professional and amateur sports-persons and musicians.
Many organisations and groups have invited Mr Miranda to give talks in his areas of expertise and interest. He enjoys teaching and the education that is involved in hand surgery education to students, doctors and other health professionals.
