Dr Raymond Leung is a Consultant in Sport and Exercise Medicine and a Fellow of the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine (FFSEM), with extensive clinical experience in managing both acute and chronic musculoskeletal injuries across all age groups from recreational participants to elite athletes. His expertise also includes the diagnosis and treatment of medical problems related to sports, exercise associated illnesses, biomechanical issues, and a broad range of other musculoskeletal disorders.
He graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School in 2009 and, after completing his General Practice training, went on to attain a Master’s degree (MSc) in Sport and Exercise Medicine from Queen Mary University of London, graduating with a distinction in 2017. In the same year, he was accepted into a higher specialist training programme in Sport and Exercise Medicine in London. During his specialist training, he also completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Musculoskeletal Ultrasonography at the University of East London, achieving a distinction in 2020.
He previously served as an NHS Consultant at Homerton University Hospital in London and spent five years as the Academy Doctor at Arsenal Football Club. Prior to that, he held roles as Club Doctor for Sutton United Football Club and West Ham United Women’s Football Club, as well as Academy Doctor for the men’s team at West Ham United Football Club. Beyond football, he has provided medical support across a wide range of elite sports and events, including the 2022 Commonwealth Games, the Lawn Tennis Association, British Figure Skating, the All England Badminton Championships, British Universities and Colleges Sport (BUCS), Para-swimming, and the London Marathon.
Dr Leung sees a range of different musculoskeletal problems and sports injuries in both adults and children. He will arrange appropriate investigations and develop a structured management plan. He has clinical expertise in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound and offers a variety of ultrasound-guided injections. In addition, he provides treatments such as shockwave therapy and exercise prescription.
