Between 1999 and 2002 Dr Singh spent three full years in research. He was initially a British Heart Foundation Fellow for 12 months before he was awarded the prestigious De Bono Fellowship by the British Cardiac Society in 2000 to investigate genetic risk factors of heart attacks. The work was awarded both national and international awards and led to a number of overseas presentations and publications.
Dr Singh is enthusiastic to undertake teaching to undergraduate medical students, postgraduate doctors as well as specialist registrars in cardiology. This includes formal lecturing, bedside teaching and hands on clinical training with invasive cardiology procedures. He continues to be an active faculty member at a number of national cardiology meetings.
Dr Singh was appointed as a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist in 2007. The cardiology services of East Lancashire have been radically transformed recently. Dr Singh undertakes approximately 600 angiogram/angioplasty procedures and 100 pacemaker implants per year. His annual inpatient and outpatient workload is well in excess of a thousand patients and include all aspects of cardiology.
