Mr Rakesh Kucheria is an expert in joint replacement surgery, specialising in lower limb anthroplasty including hip replacements, unicondylar knee replacements, revision hip and total knee replacements and robotic-assisted hip and knee replacement surgery. He performs more than 350 hip and knee replacements each year, putting him in the top percent of UK surgeons according to the National Joint Registry. He trained at the Royal London Hospital and the world renowned Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore.

Mr Kucheria can see and consult on children of all ages. Whilst most young children can be managed without surgery, when it is required, he undertakes this at The Princess Margaret Hospital for children aged 3 and above. 

As well as standard joint replacement surgery Mr Kucheria has extensive experience of endoprosthetic reconstruction for failed arthroplasty, pathological fractures and hip and knee revision procedures for loose or infected joints. He also has a special interest in trauma and has extensive experience treating fractured neck of femurs (broken hips), general fractures all over the body and soft tissue injuries. More recently, Mr Kucheria has been working with computer-assisted surgery and navigated hip and knee replacements and this year celebrated his 100th surgery using the using the Mako® Robotic arm. For the last 20 years, Mr Kucheria has been an orthopaedic consultant at Heatherwood and Wexham Park hospitals now part of Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. He has been consistently recognized by the trust with Clinical Excellence Awards and was the lead clinician for this department. He also leads the Enhanced Recovery Programme in both his NHS and private practices. This pathway is revolutionary for joint replacements which has been designed to minimise post-operative pain and to maximise early mobility to ensure a speedy recovery from your surgery.
